Join us at Starship Hospital, the only tertiary children's hospital and PICU in New Zealand. Our unit combines cardiac and general intensive care, with a capacity of 20 ICU beds and 10 HDU beds, admitting approximately 1,100 to 1,200 children each year. We also operate the country’s only dedicated paediatric retrieval service, bringing children to our care via road and air from all over New Zealand.
Role overview
As a registrar, you will work on a shift roster, receiving constant support from senior medical staff. You’ll be part of a diverse team of doctors, nurses, and allied health specialists committed to delivering exceptional care.
Education and skills development
Our active education program includes weekly protected teaching sessions. There are also opportunities to enhance your skills in bedside ultrasound and paediatric airway management for those interested.
Who should apply
This position is ideal for advanced trainees in paediatrics and is approved for core acute care training. We also welcome applications from trainees in intensive care, anaesthesia, and emergency medicine. Trainees from equivalent programs outside New Zealand and Australia are encouraged to apply. While critical care experience is beneficial, it is not a requirement.
