The Geriatric Medicine Registrars are part of the Medical team responsible for the care of inpatients needing ongoing assessment, evaluation, and rehabilitation. This typically follows an acute illness or traumatic event, but sometimes involves cases where managing in the community has been challenging.
The Registrars will assist in one or more of the following outpatient clinics as needed:
- Memory Clinic
- Falls & Balance
- Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA)
- Continence
- Telehealth reviews across Loddon Mallee Health services/RACFs
- At times, the Registrars may also be required to assess and advise on the care for older adult patients in:
- The acute or subacute inpatient units of Bendigo Hospital
- Residential In-Reach program
- Transition Care Program, or
- ACAS clients in the community
These positions may involve rotations at Bendigo Health in the following areas:
- Geriatric Medicine
- Community Geriatric Medicine
- Orthogeriatric Medicine
Essential qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent degree with current General Registration with AHPRA.
