Join us in Paediatric Medicine as the Fellow Paediatric Emergency – POCUS (Point of Care Ultrasound Special Skills).

The Paediatric Emergency Fellow, POCUS (Point-of-Care Ultrasound Special Skills) provides a distinct opportunity for an ACEM/RACP PEM Trainee to gain credentialling and expertise in Paediatric Emergency ultrasound, encompassing both technical proficiency and administrative acumen.

A prerequisite is that the applicant is successfully appointed to the PED Fellow role for a minimum of 12 months. The successful applicant will generally work as a Fellow for 6 months and then as the POCUS Special Skills Fellow for 6 months. After finishing the 6-month POCUS program, the fellow will demonstrate competence in both basic and advanced emergency bedside ultrasound applications.

The fellow will also exhibit proficiency in teaching and education and possess a comprehensive understanding of the administrative facets involved in managing a POCUS program.

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-months allocation as WCHN Fellow Paediatric Emergency – POCUS (Point of Care Ultrasound Special Skills) will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification.
