The Cardiology Department at Launceston General Hospital invites applications for Advanced Trainees in Cardiology

Applicants should have successfully completed RACP exams and be contemplating core training in cardiology in 2026.

Launceston General Hospital is a tertiary referral and teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Tasmania Medical School. The Cardiology Department services a population of 250,000 in Northern Tasmania and has a busy academic and clinical training program.

Staffed by eight cardiologists, the department offers a full range of invasive and non-invasive services. The position is accredited for a full three years of core cardiology training. There are currently two accredited and one non-accredited Advanced Trainees in the department.

Position details

  • Type: Fixed term, full-time day worker with on-call
  • Hours: Up to 76 hours per fortnight
  • Contract: 2 February 2026 – 31 January 2027
  • Training Time: 10 hours paid, protected training per fortnight (pro rata)

Salary

  • Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11: $134,930 – $189,005 per annum (pro rata) + 12% superannuation + salary packaging
  • Salary range in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

Essential qualifications

  • General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Registration/licences must remain current and valid at all times during employment
  • Applicants should notify the employer of any changes to registration/licensing status

Desirable: Successfully completed RACP exams and considering core training in 2026.
