AMSANT is the peak body for community controlled health services in the NT. We are recruiting 2 x public health registrars for the 2026 calendar year.

This position will provide registrars with excellent opportunity to develop public health skills in a supportive dynamic Aboriginal community controlled environment within a strong public health and health system team.

This positions will contribute to the AMSANT public health unit across a range of areas including policy, advocacy and research, communicable disease and other health protection work and public health /clinical system development within primary health care.

The positions will contribute to the day to day work of the Public Health unit and also undertake project work which will be designed to suit the learning needs and interests of the registrar.

The positions can be based in either the Darwin or Alice Springs office. The positions are full time but part time positions can be considered.

Salary to be negotiated depending on experience and qualifications of the applicant. The positions will commence in January/February 2026.

Essential qualifications

  1. Eligible for medical registration in the NT
  2. Currently enrolled or eligible to enrol in the Australian Faculty of Public Health Medicine training scheme
  3. Proven verbal and written communication skills suited to a cross-cultural environment and communication with government and other non-government organisations.
  4. An interest in developing public health skills and competencies related to Aboriginal primary health care
  5. Capacity to work in an Aboriginal community controlled organisation including an ability to take direction from Aboriginal management and to work co-operatively in a cross-cultural environment
