Full time – 1 position

The breast fellow position supervised by Associate Professor Shom Goel and Professor Sarah-Jane Dawson will involve a mix of clinical duties and translational research.  The fellow will have clinical responsibilities managing patients with both early and advanced breast cancer, including patients on clinical trials and translational research studies.  The fellow will spend three days per week in the research laboratories at Peter Mac (in the Goel lab https://www.petermac.org/research/labs/shom-goel and the Dawson lab https://www.petermac.org/research/labs/sarah-jane-dawson; https://www.thedawsonlab.com) where they will be exposed to various breast cancer translational research projects in a supportive environment where they can learn new skills.  

Provide high quality patient treatment and care, contribute to a research program and participate in education

  • Attendance to selected outpatient clinics and clinics in Day Ward
  • Completes all patient related documentation according to the Centre’s needs
  • Liaises and communicates with the multidisciplinary treating team
  • Contributes to team meetings and educational activities
  • Actively and regularly participates in peer review patient related activities
  • Participates in departmental research projects and audits
  • Works effectively with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Close liaison with specialist members of the medical oncology Unit
  • Follows hospital policies and procedures

Essential qualifications

  • Medical Qualifications registerable by the Medical Board of Victoria
  • Completed at least two years of registrar level of training in medical oncology
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with medical staff and other disciplines
  • Previous clinical trial experience an advantage
