Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is a 400 bed public hospital providing acute care services for residents of Launceston and is the major referral centre for North and North West regions of Tasmania.
There's a range of training opportunities:
- Service registrars (Provisional/limited registration considered)
- Basic physician trainees (PGY2+ with general registration)
Applicants of all levels of training are encouraged to apply. During Basic Physician Training at the LGH, you'll be exposed to a wide range of well supported medical specialties, and you'll be provided broad experience in both inpatient and outpatient work.

Multiple Fixed Term full time, day worker positions working 76 hours per fortnight, starting from 2 February 2026 until 31 January 2027 (Service Registrar). Negotiation of contracts of up to 2 years may be applicable.

Salary: Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $134,930 - $189,005 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging. Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
Essential qualifications
- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
