The Launceston General Hospital is recruiting for a Senior Paediatric Registrar and Paediatric Registrar jobs for 2026!! With the implementation of the new EBA providing competitive wages and paid education time, there is no better time to work in Tasmania.

We're a regional hospital with a brand new and exciting Paediatric short stay unit; as well as a 34 bed General Paediatric ward, 12 bed Level 2 neonatal nursery and Paediatric outpatients. The unit is staffed 24 hours a day by registrars and HMO staff, with consultant oversight on site during working hours, and on call overnight. The current staffing is 9 registrars/ HMO, a Senior Registrar and 7 paediatric consultants.

The role

General Paediatrics, including ward and Emergency department presentations. Short stay unit on the ward. Neonatal ward - babies from 32 weeks gestational age, 1500 deliveries annually Paediatric outpatients, with both medical and developmental patient load, as well as an Ambulatory care unit within paediatric outpatients. You'll be rostered to all of these areas on a rotating basis.

Multiple fixed term full time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing 2 February 2026 for 12 months.

Salary

Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $134,930 - $189,005 per annum.

• Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
