Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) is seeking advanced trainees for positions including:

  • General and Acute Care Medicine
  • Remote Outreach and Outpatients
  • Endocrinology
  • Coronary Care Unit
  • Palliative Care
  • Perioperative Medicine
  • Nephrology
  • Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Gastroenterology

You can complete 2 years of General Medicine Advanced Training at ASH — more if you're doing dual training.

The medicine here is entirely unique. Around 75% of inpatients are Indigenous — many from remote communities, often with complex co-morbidities, social and cultural contexts — providing a unique, challenging and incredibly rewarding experience.

ASH is a 183-bed teaching hospital.

The Department of Medicine staff includes General Physicians and Specialists in:

  • Cardiology
  • Rheumatology
  • Endocrinology
  • Oncology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Respiratory
  • Palliative Care
  • Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Nephrology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Rehabilitation

...along with many regular visiting specialists.

There are four General Medical teams, a busy Outpatient Department, and outreach clinics to some of the most remote parts of Australia.

Essential qualifications

Applicants must be AHPRA-registered and eligible for training positions. Some positions are accredited for General and Acute Care Medicine advanced training. We strongly encourage subspecialty advanced trainees to apply also.
