Description

You'll be responsible for managing the care of all patients allocated to your team within a specific General Medical Unit at either the Royal Adelaide Hospital or The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This will be achieved in consultation with the responsible Junior Staff, Consultants, Nurses and Allied Health professionals. Maintaining a high standard of medical care for inpatients and outpatients, you will keep readily accessible records of patient care and bring any doubts or concerns to the attention of the Consultant.

If in a registrar position, you'll be required to lead the Medical Emergency Response Team, servicing all inpatients in the hospital. You'll be required to liaise with the Emergency Department regarding inpatient admissions. You'll provide effective and accurate clinical handovers at the change of daily shifts and at the change of a clinical attachment, and commence discharge planning at the earliest opportunity. As part of your role, you'll actively contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement activities and continuing education activities.

Essential qualifications

  • Holding a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, you'll be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner and have general registration with AHPRA.
  • Previous clinical experience, you'll demonstrate competency in range of routine and common procedural ward-based skills.
  • You'll work well as a team member, and bring the ability to communicate confidently and appropriately with patients and their family/relatives.
