Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Infectious Diseases (ID) Physician to join the team at Launceston General Hospital (LGH) in a dual role as Head of Department and Staff Specialist, or as a Staff Specialist in ID.

This position offers the opportunity to lead meaningful change in infectious disease care and contribute to shaping future service delivery across the region. The role includes providing specialist care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, consulting with public patients across Northern Tasmania, and supporting hospital units including the ICU through regular critical care ID rounds.

You'll also lead the Antibiotic Stewardship Program, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

For a suitably qualified candidate, there is also the option to include Clinical Microbiology in the role.

This is a permanent, full-time position (up to 76 hours per fortnight), with flexible working options available. The salary range is $216,300 – $310,389 per annum, plus 12% superannuation, salary packaging.

CPD allowance, private practice opportunities, vehicle allowance, and relocation support, totalling an attractive renumeration package.

 

Essential qualifications

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as:

  • Holds specialist registration in ID
  • Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway
  • Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality
  • Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable: 

  • Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
  • Microbial genomics experience or scope of practise in microbial genomics.
