Description
The Laboratory Haematology unit provides diagnostic haematology services for Alfred Health and Western Health as part of the new Shared Pathology Service, including general haematology, coagulation, transfusion medicine and flow cytometry.
A laboratory haematologist is available 24 hours to consult on issues such as test interpretation, new haematological diagnoses and transfusion support, particularly in the acutely bleeding patient. Applications are invited for various positions of Specialist in Laboratory Haematology (Fractional) at Alfred Health and Western Health (Sunshine and the new Footscray Hospital).
Essential qualifications
- Be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, and preferably also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians
- Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Laboratory Haematology
- Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills
- Ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels
- Demonstrated flexibility in problem solving and the capability to develop and sustain highly collaborative relationships with others/ other teams
- Passion and skill in teaching and mentoring Advanced Trainees in Haematology Interest in promotion of laboratory-based research.
