Alice Springs Hospital is offering unaccredited Medical Registrar positions in Gastroenterology for the 2026 intake.
These roles are ideal for doctors seeking to enhance their expertise in gastroenterology and hepatology, preparing for future advanced training. The positions are available for 6 or 12-month rotations, starting from February 2026.
The hospital is a 183-bed teaching facility serving a vast area of over 1 million square kilometres in Central Australia, including remote communities up to 1,000 km away. Approximately 75% of the patient population is Indigenous, many from remote communities, providing unique clinical experiences in Aboriginal health.
The Department of Medicine comprises a mix of General Physicians and specialists, including Cardiology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Palliative Care, Oncology, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Renal, and Gastroenterology. The hospital also hosts regular visiting specialists and offers outreach clinics to some of the most remote parts of Australia. Applicants are expected to engage in cultural orientation and demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Essential qualifications
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Evidence of commitment to continuing education, teaching, research and quality assurance activities.
- Proven ability to manage self and others, monitor performance, manage change and develop policy with an understanding of EEO and WHS principles and policy.
