As the Paediatric Specialist (Sexual Assault Referral Centre), you'll provide forensic, medical, and follow-up care to children who have experienced sexual assault and be responsible for conducting medico-legal examinations, preparing expert reports, and contributing to legal proceedings as required.
You’ll be working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, provide expert advice, support service improvement through data analysis, and build strong networks across health, legal, and community sectors to promote culturally safe, high-quality care.
About the Sexual Assault Referral Centre
The Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) at Royal Darwin Hospital provides 24/7, no-fee, trauma-informed care to individuals who have experienced sexual assault.
Operating within a multidisciplinary framework, SARC offers forensic medical examinations, counselling, legal support, and preventative treatment.
The service is culturally responsive and supports children and adults, including non-offending family members. SARC works closely with police, legal services, and community organisations to ensure coordinated, compassionate care and to promote safety and healing across the Top End.
Essential qualifications
- Eligibility for general and/or specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Completed a fellowship from a relevant college or hold a postgraduate fellowship medical qualification
- Completed a minimum of six years full-time (or equivalent) service in medical practice
