Provide high quality, cost efficient and effective clinical and non-clinical services to directly or indirectly benefit the patients/clients of Metro North Health Service and encompasses all the roles described in the CanMEDs1 framework. This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.

The General Medicine Department at Caboolture Hospital comprises 6 Units and includes a range of sub-specialties. As well as 14 FTE Senior Medical Staff, there are 25 FTE Registrar/PHO positions including up to 3 Advanced Trainees and 12 FTE of RMO positions, with support from specialist nursing and allied health staff.

The Department currently has 94 beds however this is to increase to 120 beds in the new facility due to be opened in late 2023, and currently admits around 600 patients per month. Each unit has an outpatient clinic per week with over 2,000 outpatient presentations per year.

Essential qualifications

Ongoing General (and/or a relevant Specialist) registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Medical Practitioner which is supported by:

• a medical degree from a registered tertiary institution acceptable by AHPRA for registration in Australia

For Specialists:

• Fellowship or membership of the appropriate College or Association within Australia as recognised by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) including maintenance of CPD and good standing as required by AHPRA for the maintenance of Specialist Registration
