Alice Springs Hospital is looking for Consultant General Paediatricians, registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), to join our dynamic service.

You'll contribute to the provision of high-quality healthcare to the children of Central Australia, through inpatient care on the neonatal and paediatric wards, as well as through outpatient clinics, including outreach to remote communities. You'll undertake direct clinical care of patients, supervise and support Registrars and Junior Medical Officers (JMOs) and will be involved in teaching junior medical staff and medical students.

There's great opportunity for undertaking safety and quality initiatives, service development and research in fields of interest.

Essential qualifications

• must have general and/or specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• appropriate specialist qualifications (Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent)
• demonstrated ability to work in team and assume administrative responsibilities
• good verbal and written communication skills
• demonstrated initiative and ability to motivate others and flexibility to operate in a changing environment
• an ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.

Desirable:

• Master of Public Health or other higher degree; subspecialty skills to complement the existing team of paediatricians
• experience working in health care of Indigenous children, or children in developing countries
