Description

We're looking to fill a casual vacancy on the AFRM Council. The term will begin immediately after the appointment is confirmed and will end in May 2026 at the RACP Annual General Meeting, in line with the College election cycle. This role will be open to formal election at that time.

You'll also be eligible to stand for election in 2026. If elected, you'll serve a 2-year term as AFRM President-elect (2026–2028), before transitioning into the role of AFRM President.

At AFRM, we support the professional careers of all our Fellows and trainees by working collaboratively with relevant College Bodies and staff. We advance rehabilitation medicine in areas such as:

  • education, training, and assessment of trainees
  • continuing professional development and quality performance of Fellows
  • policy and advocacy
  • assessment of overseas trained professionals
  • research
  • workforce planning and development

Our goal is to improve rehabilitation medicine education and practice to help people in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand live healthier lives. We do this by:

  • training and supporting rehabilitation physicians 
  • promoting public debate and advocacy on rehabilitation medicine issues
  • encouraging and facilitating research in rehabilitation medicine
