Description
Westmead Clinical School is a Clinical School of Sydney Medical School and a major contributor to the University’s reputation and achievements in Medicine and Biosciences. It's located at Westmead Hospital (800 beds), the major Teaching Hospital in WSLHD (catchment population 1.2 million people).
Westmead Hospital is part of the Westmead Health Precinct, one of the major biomedical Precincts in the Southern Hemisphere containing 3 hospitals (Westmead Public and Private and Westmead Children’s), several research institutes (Westmead Institute of Medical Research, Children’s Medical Research Institute, Institute of Chemical Pathology and Medical Research, Westmead Institute of Applied Research) and two universities (Sydney University and Western Sydney University).
We're seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Rheumatology to contribute to the teaching and research in the Specialty of Rheumatology, Sydney Medical School. The position will be in the Rheumatology Department, Westmead Hospital and at Westmead Clinical School.
Your key responsibilities
- provide leadership in developing and maintaining a clinical, translational or basic science research program relevant to Rheumatology
- provide leadership in the development, implementation and promotion of clinical/education programs for MD students relating to Rheumatology
- provide clinical care as part of the healthcare team in the Specialty of Rheumatology, including actively contributing to Rheumatology Department activities, e.g. quality and safety and service improvement
- promote a culture that is collaborative, team-oriented and one that respects the skill sets and opinions of all staff.
Essential qualifications
- have a PhD in a field relevant to Rheumatology
- registered as a medical practitioner in NSW with recognition by AHPRA as a Specialist Rheumatologist and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, or equivalent
- have an emerging national/international reputation and research track record, including publications in peer-reviewed international journals and success in obtaining research funding and supervision of research students
- have experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives within Rheumatology
- have a network of relationships with key academic and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the Specialty, Hospital/School/Faculty and University.
