Description
Applications are invited for the position of Head of Endoscopy at Alfred Health, with a minimum commitment of 0.6 EFT. The Head of Endoscopy reports to the Director of Gastroenterology.
Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes:
- Legally qualified medical practitioner.
- Registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) without conditions, undertakings, or reprimands that could impact clinical practice. Fellowship of the relevant college(s) is required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strong clinical leadership within an Endoscopy/Gastroenterology service, fostering a culture of integrity, fairness, and accountability.
- Proven track record in managing resources, budgets, and service delivery targets, with experience leading audits and ensuring compliance with hospital guidelines and policies.
- Experience in strategic service planning and delivery, including developing services aligned with organisational priorities, introducing new technologies, and expanding procedural capacity.
- Advanced clinical expertise in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, maintaining contemporary best practices.
- Substantial experience as an Interventional Endoscopist.
- Commitment to clinical governance, quality, safety, and risk management, including participation in morbidity and mortality reviews, accreditation programs, and compliance with national standards.
- Meets Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.
- Evidence of contribution to education, training, and supervision of junior medical staff, registrars, and fellows, as well as fostering research opportunities within the department.
- Preferred candidates will hold a research higher degree or have a strong research track record. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, resolve issues constructively, and represent the Unit in internal and external forums.
