We're offering a full-time Public Cardiology position based at Alice Springs Hospital,
caring for patients from across the southern NT, including those from remote communities
throughout Central Australia and Barkly.
This role is an opportunity to build and shape a critical but emerging service for patients
with the highest rates of cardiovascular disease in Australia.
It poses a unique chance to improve patient outcomes while developing your professional
skills and experience.
The unit has echo, CTCA, CMR, TOE, and stress echo in-house, supported by a dedicated nursing
and echo-sonographer team. The hospital has outstanding ICU and ED support and a close working
relationship with the Royal Adelaide Hospital for patients requiring angiography, EP procedures,
or cardiothoracic surgery. Advanced Trainees rotate from South Australia, and the unit has
accreditation for up to 6 months of core Cardiology advanced training.
The ASH Cardiology unit conducts regular outreach visits to sites across Central Australia.
The hospital has affiliations with Flinders University, providing opportunities for teaching
and research involvement. The unit includes VMOs with a broad range of skills including
interventional cardiology, structural intervention, advanced heart failure and heart transplantation,
electrophysiology, and cardiac imaging.
Essential qualifications
- Eligible for specialist medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Appropriate specialist qualifications and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, or equivalent.
- Core required competency includes FRACP with specialty training in Cardiology.
- Desired skills include sub-specialty post-fellowship training in 1 or more of non-invasive cardiac imaging or heart failure.
