Description

One of the main roles of the Advanced Training Committee in Cardiology is to monitor and assess individual trainee progress in Cardiology for Australia.

This is a great opportunity for Physicians willing to support current Cardiology Advanced Trainees and the training program. In this role, you'll help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce and culture of Cardiology in Australia.

You'll be involved in
  • reviewing and monitoring of the training program requirements
  • assessment and curricula development in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society(ies) and other stakeholders
  • recommend changes to the College Education Committee via the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee/Paediatrics Division Education Committee/Faculty Education Committee.

Meetings are held 4 times per year with 1 face to face meeting which is usually held in November.

Members are appointed to the ATC for a 3-year term and can be renewed for a further term.

Key responsibilities
  • liaise with heads of department to facilitate a smooth recruitment process for incoming Cardiology trainees
  • monitor training of, and provide support to, supervisors in Cardiology
  • accredit Advanced Training sites or programs in Cardiology
  • assess recognition of prior learning
  • advise on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested
  • modify individual training requirements, as appropriate, in accordance with   College policies and procedures
  • assess and provide advice on specialist recognition in Cardiology for Fellows in the Paediatric and Child Health Division or the Adult Medicine Division who haven't completed the Cardiology Advanced Training program
