The Aotearoa New Zealand Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) Committee seeks expressions of interest from Fellows residing in Aotearoa NZ to join the Committee.

Description

The Aotearoa NZ AFRM Committee aims to support the professional careers of Fellows and Trainees of the Rehabilitation Medicine Faculty in Aotearoa NZ. It runs training and continuing professional development programs for rehabilitation medicine Fellows and trainees and develops educational resources for rehabilitation medicine.

The Aotearoa NZ AFRM Committee advises both the AFRM Council and the Aotearoa NZ Committee on matters of importance and prepares committee project proposals for the approval by the Faculty Council.

Promoting rehabilitation medicine is an important role of this Committee. The Committee, under the direction of the faculty, responds to new and emerging rehabilitation medicine issues and contributes to policy and advocacy activities.

Key responsibilities

  • the Committee meet up to 4 times per year with 1 kanohi ki te kanohi | face to face
  • acknowledge Te Tiriti ō Waitangi and the foundational principles of bicultural partnership, participation and protection it guarantees
  • support appropriate initiatives that will assist Fellows and trainees to develop their cultural competence. This incorporates tikanga Māori values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and mōhiotanga
  • ensure timely responses to requests for comment or report from the AFRM Council and other AFRM Committees
  • adhere to the College’s policies, including prevention of discrimination and harassment.
