Seeking Members for the new Accreditation Committee

Summary

We're seeking expressions of interest from Members in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia who have expertise in accreditation to join the new Accreditation Committee.

Description

Members are sought from across jurisdictions, including rural and regional areas, clinical and non-clinical training settings, and the training programs of Divisions, Faculties and Chapters.

Eligible members

  • A RACP Fellow who has served as an accreditor in their relevant training program for a minimum of 2 years, or who has extensive experience in accreditation frameworks, accreditation reviews, and/or compliance in medical education.
  • High-level communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to build positive partnerships.
  • Ability and capacity to prepare appropriately and diligently for participation in RACP activities.

Note: Trainee Members on the Accreditation Committee will be nominated separately to this EOI process through the College Trainees’ Committee.

Key responsibilities

The Accreditation Committee will be the lead committee for the accreditation function under the Board-approved new education governance. Its functions are set out in the draft Terms of Reference (PDF) and include:

  • Oversee accreditation standards and policy and their consistent application across all RACP training programs in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia.
  • Act as an expert body providing advice and support to the College Education Committee (CEC) and other College bodies involved in accreditation of training providers and programs.
  • Ensure the College’s accreditation criteria align with the regulatory requirements and standards of the Australian Medical Council, the Medical Council of New Zealand, and the National Health Practitioner Ombudsman (Australia).
  • Review recommendations from Training Program Committees and Subcommittees, and/or Accreditation Subcommittees, and approve system-wide improvements as delegated or endorse for approval by the CEC.
