The Paediatric Refugee Health Conference is a one-day event aimed at GP’s, health professionals, NGO caseworkers and anyone interested in refugee and asylum seeker health issues.
The conference will review topics from the history of immigration detention from the 1970s to medical activism. Hear about advocacy from the perspectives of health, sport and politics and better understand the intersection between law and health.
The conference will be opened by Ed Santow, from the Australian Human Rights Commission, and Kerryn Phelps will present a session on the Medevac bill.
Chaired by Prof David Isaacs and Dr Phil Britton there will be a panel discussion from speakers including Prof Louise Newman, Prof George Newhouse, Dr Kerryn Phelps and refugee advocate and footballer Craig Foster.
Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine with the preview screening of Heather Fitzpatrick’s independent documentary 'Against our Oath'.
Cost: $200. Proceeds raised from ticket sales will go towards supporting refugee families.
