ReturnToWorkSA

This event marks the launch of the Impairment Assessor Accreditation Scheme (IAAS), which — following extensive consultation throughout 2023 and 2024 — has been approved by the Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector.

The scheme will come into effect from 1 July 2025.

This event is intended to promote the benefits of becoming accredited for consultant physicians who are considering undertaking medicolegal work.

The objective of the review was to renew the IAAS to improve the objectivity, fairness, and consistency of Whole Person Impairment assessments under the Return to Work scheme.

There have been several additions to the IAAS, which now provide significant enhancements to the support ReturnToWorkSA offers to Assessors. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • a Peer Support Program to assist with medical issues and questions

  • ongoing support for professional development and assessment quality
