This 90-minute webinar is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the latest evidence and practical strategies for reducing the burden of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in infants through maternal immunisation. RSV is a leading cause of hospitalisation in young children, and recent advancements in vaccination provide a unique opportunity to protect newborns during their most vulnerable early months of life.

The webinar will feature an expert panel, including Associate Professor Philip Britton (Paediatric Infectious Diseases, Children’s Hospital Westmead), Professor Stephen Robson (Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Canberra Health Services), Dr Angela Brown (Midwifery Accreditation and Curriculum Quality Lead, UniSA), and moderated by Dr Anita Sharma (GP and RACGP Medical Educator). Together, they will discuss the current RSV landscape in Australia, explore the benefits and challenges of integrating RSV vaccination into antenatal care, and provide practical guidance on addressing vaccine hesitancy and improving uptake among pregnant women.

With a focus on multidisciplinary collaboration, this session will highlight the role of GPs, obstetricians, midwives, and paediatricians in ensuring the successful implementation of maternal immunisation programmes. Attendees will gain practical insights into safeguarding infant health, making this an essential session for any healthcare professional involved in maternal and child care.
