AChAM Nghi Phung Research Project Prize

Applications open 15 July to 15 August 2024.

The AChAM Nghi Phung Research Project Prize is awarded annually to the best Advanced Training Research Project on addiction medicine.

This prize is named in honour of Associate Professor Phung’s passion for research and her enormous contribution to the alcohol and other drug field.

2023 recipient | Dr Kate Senior

Dr Kate Senior is the current SA Representative on the APSAD Council and a co-convenor of this year’s APSAD Conference. She has a background in General Practice and completed her Addiction Medicine Advanced Training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in February 2023. She has served as the Trainee Representative on the RACP Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine Committee and is currently on the AChAM Curriculum Review Group. She has a passion for harm reduction and reducing the stigma faced by AOD clients, and her interests within the AOD field include Aboriginal Health, blood borne viruses and liver disease, and co-morbid chronic pain and opioid dependence.

 


Eligibility

You must be a registered Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine (AChAM) Advanced Trainee upon submission of your Advanced Training Research Project for assessment.

Your Advanced Training Research Project must have been submitted between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2023.

Prize

The successful recipient is awarded:

  • a cash prize of $1000
    AND
  • a prize certificate to be presented at the APSAD Conference from 30 October to November 2024.

Selection process

All applications are reviewed by an Award Review Panel comprised of 3 AChAM members. 

The Award Review Panel reserves the right not to award the AChAM Nghi Phung Research Project Prize if there are no applications that meet a sufficient standard.
