First Nations Health and Equity
The RACP is committed to developing and implementing strategic initiatives that improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as Māori and Pasifika communities.
We carry out various initiatives aimed at addressing health disparities caused by colonisation and systemic discrimination, while also working to achieve other health, policy, and advocacy goals.
Close the Gap Agreements
We support and promote Close the Gap Agreements in Indigenous Affairs. As a founding member of the Close the Gap campaign, we work to achieve health equity by reducing the health and life expectancy gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and non-Indigenous Australians.
We partner with organisations like the Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association (AIDA) and the National Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO).
Increased access to specialist care
We work with key stakeholders to promote and support equitable access to specialist care for Australia's Indigenous peoples. The RACP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Committee (ATSIHC) developed the Medical Specialist Access Framework as a guide for health sector stakeholders to promote and support equitable access to specialist care for Australia's Indigenous peoples.

Raise the Age
We're a founding member of the Raise the Age Campaign and Steering Committee, which advocates for state, territory and Federal governments to change the laws so that children under 14 years can't be sent to prison.
We also advocate to promote the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents who are at risk of, or in contact with the youth justice system.
