RACP appoints new Chief Executive Officer

The Board of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians today announced the appointment of Peter McIntyre as its new Chief Executive Officer, to commence later this year.

The Board conducted a rigorous, independent search for the Chief Executive position and Peter brings broad experience to the role in leading large professional member-based organisations. He also has extensive experience working in highly regulated, complex stakeholder sectors.

Peter McIntyre is currently Chief Executive Officer of Engineers Australia, with 100,000 members, and has held Board Director and Managing Director positions in the electricity industry as well as senior executive positions ranging from regulatory strategy to electricity system operations.

Peter is a past Deputy Chairman of the Energy Networks Association, past Chairman of Grid Australia and past Deputy Chairman of the Australian Power Institute.

He holds a BSc in physics and a BE (Hons) in electrical engineering from UNSW, an MBA in technology management from Deakin University. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Energy.

The College’s interim arrangements with current Chief Executive Officer Duane Findley remain in place.

“On behalf of the Board I wish to thank Duane for his many contributions to the RACP during his time in the role and his continued support over the coming months during this time of transition,” said Associate Professor Lane.
