Important information about your Medicare Online access
Date published:
25 Sep 2022
Services Australia will be removing access to Medicare Online (including Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Australian Immunisation Register) using ageing patient administration software from 4 October 2022, or earlier as requested by their software developer. ECLIPSE users and complex organisations such as jurisdictions and pathology providers, will not be impacted at this stage.
You will not be able to submit your Medicare Online claims and data to us until you upgrade your patient administration software.
Services Australia previously notified you that they are making upgrades to improve the security of their digital health and aged care channels, which affects Medicare Online.
What you need to know
If Services Australia's records show that your organisation still uses old technology to access Medicare Online, including Department of Veterans’ Affairs and Australian Immunisation Register channels.
If your software is not upgraded, you will need to use alternative claiming channels, such as Health Professional Online Services (HPOS). Go to the Services Australia website and search for ‘online options for health professionals’ to find out more about this channel.
What you need to do
Talk to your software developer as soon as possible about upgrading or register for HPOS to continue digital claiming. Your software developer will also tell you if you need a PRODA Organisation account.
If you don’t have a software developer, or you need to find one, go to the Services Australia website and search for ‘how to find a software developer’.
