Department of Health update: meningococcal ACWY vaccines

The Department of Health and Aged Care (the department) has asked us to share program advice on the 1 July 2024 change to meningococcal ACWY vaccines under the National Immunisation Program (NIP).
The key points are:
- as of 1 July 2024, the meningococcal ACWY vaccine, MenQuadfi®, will be added to the NIP adolescent schedule
- MenQuadfi® will be free under the NIP for adolescents aged 14 to 16 years through school vaccination programs and health services including pharmacies and those aged 15 to 19 years on catch-up schedules
- Nimenrix® will continue to be administered as a free vaccine through the NIP to children aged 12 months and people with specified medical conditions
- it is mandatory to report all meningococcal ACWY vaccines you have administered to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR)
