Specialist Clinician / Senior Specialist Clinician – Paediatrics

Description
Provide high quality specialist paediatric services, through the Department of Paediatrics, to Central Australia comprising of Alice Springs Hospital, Alice Springs and Barkly regions of the NT and fringe areas of Western Australia and South Australia.
Provide high quality inpatient, outpatient, outreach and retrieval clinical services in paediatrics.
Provide advice to the Head of Paediatrics on matters relating to paediatric services.
Participate in quality management activities, performance appraisal, and personal and departmental continuing education programs.
Supervise and participate in high quality teaching for medical students, junior doctors and nursing staff.
Undertake research as appropriate.
Participate in relevant hospital committees and in other administrative duties as required.
Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Essential qualifications
Must have general and/or specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Appropriate specialist qualifications (Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent).
Demonstrated ability to work in team and assume administrative responsibilities.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to motivate others and flexibility to operate in a changing environment.
An ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.
Desirable:
Masters of Public Health or other higher degree; subspecialty skills to complement the existing team of paediatricians.
Experience working in health care of Indigenous children, or children in developing countries.
