We're seeking 2 Fellows to join the Department of Critical Care Medicine. The Department of Critical Care Medicine admits approximately 2000 patients per year. Our case mix includes all adult tertiary specialties apart from cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery (provided by another ICU in Auckland City Hospital) burns and plastic surgery (provided elsewhere in Auckland). There's particular emphasis on neuro-intensive care, tertiary surgical services, trauma and abdominal organ transplantation.

Fellows participate in clinical audit programmes and contribute to the knowledge of medical, nursing and support staff. There are opportunities to gain further experience in education, research, and quality.

The Critical Care Fellow is a 12-month fixed-term position starting February 2027 and is suitable for those nearing the completion of their specialist training in intensive care. The Fellow works on the specialist roster with supervision from a specialist intensivist.

Essential qualifications

• Medical practitioner fully registered with the New Zealand Medical Council 
• Able to work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team 
• Appropriate training from the College of Intensive Care Medicine (or equivalent) 
• Minimum of two years' experience in Intensive Care, one year of which was in a tertiary (Level III) Intensive Care Unit
• You should be either registered or be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
