Description
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) are seeking to train the next wave of Paediatricians with many Advanced Trainee positions across the stunning regions of South West, Kimberley, Great Southern, Pilbara and Midwest.
The positions are accredited for up to 12 months of Advanced Training in General Paediatrics, although applications for 6 months will be considered if necessary. We are seeking enthusiastic registrars to join our teams in all our hospital sites. The hospital sites included within the recruitment process are:
- Albany - Broome (STP funded position) - Bunbury (STP funded position)
- Geraldton (STP funded position)
- Karratha There is a strong team of resident consultant paediatricians providing close supervision and support in each of our hospitals while also giving opportunities for independent practice.
Candidates for positions which are funded through the Australian Government Specialist Training Program (STP) must be in Years 1, 2 or 3 of their Advanced Training. They can't complete their training until the end of the STP funded position.
Essential qualifications
- Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia.
- Enrolled in Paediatrics Training Program, RACP or equivalent programs and demonstrates satisfactory progression appropriate for an advanced trainee.
- Demonstrated current clinical experience in paediatrics and the management of acutely unwell children and neonates.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skilss, with highly developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching of resident, nursing staff and medical students.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance (Patient Safety and Quality), quality assurance, continuous improvement and clinical research in the field of paediatrics and adolescent health.
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of othe Aboriginal Cultural Respect Framework.
- Current C Class drivers license and an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away from home.
- Experienced or interest in rural paediatric practice in rural setting.
Desirable
- Possession of current Advanced Life Support, Advanced Paediatric Life Support or Emergency Management of Severe Trauma certificates.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and review own effectiveness.
- Experience working with clients from a variety of cultural / ethnic backgrounds.
