Description

A General & Acute Medicine Advanced Training post is available in the Northern Network in Sydney, Australia.

This network comprises of rotations in the following hospitals:

  • Royal North Shore
  • Hornsby
  • Sydney Adventist
  • Northern Beaches
  • North Shore Private
  • Coffs Harbour

These rotations include:

  • General Medicine
  • Acute Medicine in the Medical Assessment Unit
  • Cardiology
  • Respiratory Medicine
  • Infectious Disease/Endocrinology (a combined term)
  • Stroke Medicine
  • ICU

All rotations are fully accredited for core training in General Medicine and are allocated as per the trainee's seniority and training needs. Outpatient experience is provided in the form of weekly clinics attached to specialty and core blocks.

The successful applicant will have excellent clinical, interpersonal, communication and teaching skills, and will participate and lead departmental activities including journal club, M&M meetings, and departmental meetings.

Advanced trainees are also required to participate in the basic physician training teaching roster, and to be actively involved in medical student teaching and assessment.

Essential qualifications

  • eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • must have passed the RACP written exams OR be eligible for top up training in General Medicine by the RACP
  • previous experience as a Medical Registrar or PGY3+ is required, with a strong background in medical terms and willingness to step up to the Advanced Trainee role
