Description

  • Total Indicative Remuneration: $366,283 - $822,189 per annum
  • Classification: MD2 - Consultant / Senior Consultant
  • Ongoing Part-time - 7.5 hours per week
  • Conduct comprehensive medical assessments of children referred through child protection pathways
  • Provide expert clinical opinions and documentation for legal proceedings
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, police, and legal professionals
  • Deliver trauma-informed care to children and their families
  • Participate in case conferences and court proceedings as required

Essential qualifications

  • Medical degree with specialist qualifications in paediatrics or relevant field • Experience in child protection medicine or forensic paediatrics preferred 
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with children, families, and legal professionals
  • Ability to provide trauma-informed care and maintain professional boundaries • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency 
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice

To be eligible for appointment to this role, you must hold: 

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent 
  • Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award. A higher degree (MD, PhD) and experience in research or publications will be highly regarded.
