Lead the future of developmental paediatric care in WA.

WA Country Health Service (WACHS) invites Expressions of Interest from an exceptional leader to join our Central Office team in East Perth as the Director of Paediatrics (Developmental).

This is a fixed term 0.20 FTE opportunity to cover maternity leave from 3 August 2026 to 3 May 2027.
Sessional Year 1–9: $790.09 - $1,003.40.
Inclusive of base salary, allowances, PDL, on-call, and 12% super.
Sessional appointment at 0.2 FTE (*4 sessions per fortnight).
One session is equal to 4 hours.

About the role

Step into a key leadership position as the Director of Paediatrics, overseeing specialised paediatric services across WACHS with a strong emphasis on developmental and medical assessment expertise.

In this role, you'll provide high-level clinical leadership within the WACHS Paediatric Clinical Network, shaping models of care, guiding credentialing standards, and supporting evidence-based practice across regional Western Australia.

Working closely with Executive Directors and clinical governance teams, you'll lead system-wide improvements in safety, quality, and clinical outcomes.

You'll also contribute to policy and guideline development, while championing research and education initiatives that reflect best practice in contemporary paediatrics.

Essential qualifications

  • Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia. 
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics and Child Health Division). 
  • Extensive knowledge, clinical experience, and skills in Paediatrics and Child Health Division. 
  • Solid leadership skills including interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Strong strategic planning and policy formulation skills.
