  • Working 22.8 hours a week (flexible days & hours) between Monday to Friday - office hours

The Drug and Alcohol Services Medical Director will be responsible for the establishment, and ongoing provision, of all drug and alcohol services within the immigration detention network across Australia.

Key responsibilities:

  • oversee the establishment of drug and alcohol services across the network
  • oversee the ongoing provision of drug and alcohol services across the network
  • provide clinical and professional leadership for the IHMS drug and alcohol teams
  • develop policies and procedures and a reporting framework for the drug and alcohol program
  • develop professional relationships with the Department of Home Affairs and Australian Border Force staff

Essential qualifications

  • Significant experience in Addictions Medicine or Addictions Psychiatry required.
  • Experience in opioid substitute therapy prescribing and program management advantageous.
  • FAChAM or FRANZCP with a subspecialty certificate of advanced training in Addiction Psychiatry or FRACGP/FACCRM with training and experience in Alcohol and other Drugs/AOD.
  • Full working rights in Australia and full unconditional registration with AHPRA.
  • Able to participate in an on-call roster (approx. one week in six).
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office and able to use an electronic medical record.
