We’re inviting a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) Paediatrician to join our team and help grow private paediatric care in a region that truly values your expertise. Specifically, the role will be required to provide in-patient and on-call services to our Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton. We will support you in your transition to private practice.

For more than 110 years, Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has been a cornerstone of care in Central Queensland. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1915, our hospital is in the heritage-listed Kenmore building and remains the region’s largest for-purpose private healthcare provider. We are proud to be the only private maternity service in the region, supporting over 480 private births each year and more than 78,000 hospital admissions. Our team includes 470+ Mater People and 100+ medical professionals to deliver high-quality care.

Our facilities include:

  • 131 inpatient beds
  • 3 birthing suites
  • 4 operating theatres
  • 5 high dependency unit (HDU) beds
  • 2 surgical-assist robots

Essential qualifications

To be successful in this role you'll have: 

  • registration as a Medical Practitioner without conditions, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 
  • specialist registration: Paediatrics and Child Health – General Paediatrics 
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or equivalent 
  • completed Advanced Training in General Paediatrics with the RACP or equivalent
