Description
Goulburn Base Hospital is a Level 4 Paediatric facility that admits children from Goulburn, Crookwell, Yass and Braidwood hospitals.
The Consultant Paediatrician is responsible for the provision of high-quality, independent care to paediatric patients aged 0–16 years (occasionally up to 18 years in the case of chronic conditions) in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
This role involves acute and outpatient care, neonatal resuscitation, and collaborative work with maternity, emergency, and regional services. Flexibility, clinical leadership, and the ability to adapt to local systems and protocols are essential.
Essential qualifications
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Paediatrician, and/or specialist international medical graduate pathways
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in General Paediatrics at the role delineation of the service, including demonstrated competency in neonatal resuscitation, stabilisation, and management of acute paediatric emergencies.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience with child and adolescent medicine, including children with complex care requirements, and experience in assessment and management of behavioural and developmental conditions in an outpatient setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and to provide clinical leadership within a regional hospital setting, including availability to participate in an on-call roster.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including timely clinical documentation, outpatient correspondence, and communication with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, supervision of junior medical staff, clinical research, simulation, continuing professional development, and participation in quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance principles including the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, and commitment to compliance with NSW Health policies and SNSWLHD procedures.
