Description
Reporting to the Head of Department, General Medicine and Director of Medical Services, you will play an important role in providing contemporary best practice Specialist Physician, General Medicine services for optimal patient outcomes. This includes team working with multidisciplinary colleagues to effectively and efficiently manage resources for best patient outcomes.
The General Medicine Department is divided into 3 teams, each led by a consultant and supported by rotating Basic Physician Trainees or Intensive Medicine Trainees from Canberra Health Services in addition to RMOs. Each Consultant will do a fair share of on-call duties and will be supported by a separate On-Call Medical Registrar on-site 24 hours a day. These include regular ward rounds, weekend duties including supporting junior medical teams.
Essential qualifications
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Physician or equivalent overseas qualification (Internal Medicine) either eligible for Expedited Specialist Pathway or substantially comparable on the RACP Specialist IMG Pathway.
- Demonstrated current clinical experience in General / Acute / Internal Medicine at an appropriate level.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance principles including the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards in Australia.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and provide effective leadership.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, clinical research, simulation and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff; and effective communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
