Nepean Hospital is an outer metropolitan tertiary teaching hospital with a 20-bed inpatient paediatric unit, an additional on-site 4-bed short-stay unit) and a busy emergency department (ED) with a separate paediatric zone in ED.

You'll join as a second general paediatric fellow to provide a high standard of clinical care to patients under consultant supervision while developing expertise in the practice of General Paediatrics in fulfilling the Royal Australasian College of Physicians requirements for Advanced Training in General Paediatrics.

This position of suitable for RACP advanced trainees or overseas trained physicians (OTP) requiring top-up training or peer review in general paediatrics. The position provides experience in acute general paediatrics, including on-call experience under consultant supervision, supervised outpatient clinics in General and Developmental behavioural paediatrics, allergy, immunology and NICU follow-up.

Plenty of opportunities to participate in research and audit projects, quality and safety initiatives, teaching, and leadership development to prepare for consultant practice in Australia. We have an impressive track record of completing many advanced trainee RACP projects by our previous fellows leading to many publications and presentations at conferences.

We assist fellows to obtain clinical associate lecturer appointments with on-site Nepean clinical school, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sydney. 

Essential qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
• Registered as an advanced trainee or Overseas Trained Paediatrician with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent and eligible to undertake training in General Paediatrics in Australia. Those OTPs requiring top-up training both in Community Paediatrics and General Paediatrics can also apply.
• Demonstrated commitment to training in General Paediatrics and related medical experience in relevant specialties.
• Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position.
