Description

The Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS), based in Launceston, is a collaborative and dynamic team committed to delivering high-quality care for individuals experiencing alcohol and drug-related issues, as well as their families and support networks.

The service operates across both inpatient and outpatient settings, working closely with statewide teams to achieve improved health outcomes and strengthen support for the Tasmanian community.

The Specialist Medical Practitioner – ADS operates under the broad operational guidance of the Area Manager ADS North, with clinical governance provided by the Statewide Specialty Director ADS.  This position plays a key role in maintaining the effectiveness of the Pharmacotherapy Program across both public and private sectors, working in partnership with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders. The role requires a high level of independent clinical judgement in assessing and managing patient care, alongside a strong commitment to ethical practice, integrity, and professionalism.

Through collaboration and leadership, the practitioner contributes to the continuous improvement of service delivery and supports the overall goal of excellence in healthcare within the ADS North team.

Salary:

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging 

Essential qualifications

  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
  • Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment
