The Tasmania Heath Service North West (THS NW) region is currently recruiting to a full-time staff specialist gastroenterologist.
The gastroenterology unit is largely ambulatory, with services here including outpatients, gastroscopy and colonoscopy. There is also opportunity for inpatient contact with consults.
Supportive infrastructure across THS NW consists of two 24-hour emergency departments, general and acute medicine, critical care medicine, general surgery, operating theatres, endoscopy suites, and cancer services. There are 2 pathology laboratories and 2 radiology department on site. Within the Department of Medicine, other available subspecialties are endocrinology, nephrology, cardiology, infectious diseases, geriatric medicine, rehabilitation medicine, and palliative care services.
THS NW incorporates both North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) in Burnie and Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) in Latrobe. Latrobe is located 10 kms south of Devonport. The distance between Burnie and Devonport is about 47 kms, serviced by a national highway. The wider area has a well-developed infrastructure, and has ample amenities.
The successful candidate will be remunerated according to the Tasmanian Award. They will work alongside physicians in the Department of Medicine across THS NW. There's support from junior medical officers.
