Description
The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Geriatric Medicine is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist – Geriatric Medicine vacancy. The Aged Care department has 66 inpatient beds dedicated to acute older persons’ care, subacute care, and patients with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia requiring rehabilitation. There is also an additional GEM at Home service.
Strategic plans are in place for a Perioperative Service (POPS) and additional acute admitting older persons unit beds. The Aged Care specialists provide multiple services to inpatients, including a consultative service and a shared care orthogeriatrics model of 10-20 patients, as well as services to outpatients. Additionally, they provide a robust educational program. Geriatricians also have opportunities to pursue research interests and experiences.
Remuneration: base salary
- $210,000 to $288,000 (Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1-11)
- $291,472 to $301,349 (Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1-3)
- Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award plus additional allowances and benefits.
Essential qualifications
- Holds specialist registration; or
- Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or
- Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
