Author guidelines

College Roll

Submissions should be between 250 and 1000 words. Handwritten submissions cannot be accepted.

Life Fellows, complete a My career story form to submit your story. Write your story in first person.

For deceased Fellows, complete the Biographies and obituaries form. Write the submission in thirdperson.

What to include

Entries should be an interesting and accurate summary of career highlights and life achievements. You can write about:

family background, including place and date of birth, names of parents, spouses and children
education (schools, universities, medical schools, fellowships)
junior posts
war service/National Service
definitive consultant appointment(s)
writing and research including significant papers/books
awards and honours
membership of local, regional, national and international organisations.

We recommend you include anecdotes and personal recollections where possible. Avoid a dry listing of appointments, CV-style.

College timeline

The College timeline offers snapshots of our history. Submissions should be between 50 and 100 words. Complete a Timeline entry form to make a submission.

Images

We encourage you to add a photo with your submission. Images should be 2MB high-resolution and file format must be jpg, jpeg, png, gif or bmp.

By submitting a photo you confirm that you own the copyright and can license us to publish it on our website.

Qualifications

Qualifications should be listed in this format:

CBE (1990), OBE (1982), MB BS Sydney (1952), MD (1956), FRCP Edinburgh (1966), FRACP (1974), FRCP (1976).

References

Accurately list all references used in your submission including websites.

Publication reference should follow the format — Author, (year), Title, Publication, (Month), Vol(No)-pp.

Example — Cheng, YC., (2002), Conferment of SMA Honorary Membership, SMA News, Vol 34(5); John Mackay, (2015), Profile Doctor, HKCP Synapse (Feb), pp.39-40.
