After graduating in medicine from the University of Sydney, Morris Plomley served as a resident medical officer at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. He later was appointed to the honorary staff of the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children and after his retirement from the active staff, became an honorary consultant to the Hospital. He was a captain in the AAMC Reserve.
At the time of his election as a foundation Fellow he still practised as a paediatrician in Macquarie Street, Sydney, but moved to Wentworth Falls, was appointed an honorary physician at Katoomba Hospital and in the early war years was practising at Wentworth Falls.
Tall, thin, outspoken and direct in manner, he was respected and liked as a kind and good physician. He was twice married and had one daughter.
