Kaupapa o te Komiti | Purpose of the Committee

The Aotearoa NZ AFPHM Medicine Committee aims to support the professional careers of Fellows and trainees in Aotearoa NZ.

Working with appropriate College Bodies and staff in relation to medical education; policy and advocacy; Fellowship; and the medical workforce; to promote and support the practice of Public Health Medicine in the Aotearoa NZ context.

There is a vacancy for

  • One Trainee member, who is an Aotearoa NZ-resident undertaking public health training

Paearu Mātauranga, Paearu Wheako | Knowledge and Experience Criteria
  • Be a AFPHM Trainee, who resides in Aotearoa NZ
  • High level communication skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to build positive partnerships.
  • Computer literate with access to a computer.
  • Ability and capacity to prepare appropriately and diligently for participation in RACP meetings and activities.
Takohanga | Responsibilities

As the Aotearoa NZ trainee member of the Committee, you will also sit on the AFPHM Trainee Committee

Meetings

Both Committees meet a maximum of 4 times a year.

One hui may be kanohi ki te kanohi | face to face, (the Aotearoa NZ AFPHM Committee in Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington, the AFPHM Trainees Committee in Sydney Australia.)

If travel is required, costs are covered by the RACP in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF).

All remaining meetings (up to 3) would be via hui-ā-ataata | zoom.

Most of the mahi will occur during the scheduled hui. Approximately one hour of pre-reading is required for committee meetings. You will be assigned CPD credits for your time in preparation for, and in attendance of, meetings that will be attributed to your MyCPD.

Members may also be asked to respond to communication out of session.
