We're seeking expressions of interest from Basic, Advanced and Faculty Trainees in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia to be the trainee voice on lead committees reporting to the College Education Committee (CEC) under the new education governance model:
- Training Program Management Committee — seeking 2 Trainee Members and 2 Trainee Observers
- Accreditation Committee — seeking 2 Trainee Members
- Curriculum Improvement & Supervision Advisory Committee — seeking 1 Advanced Training, Faculty or Chapter Trainee
Training Program Management Committee
Purpose of the committee
The Training Program Management Committee is the lead committee for the training program management function:
- Oversees development and review of education policies, including Progression Through Training, Flexible Training, Training Support and Recognition of Prior Learning, and approves minor to moderate policy changes
- Acts as an expert body providing advice and support to the CEC and other College bodies regarding curriculum implementation, Advanced Training Research projects, supervisor support, compliance with supervisor training requirements, and monitoring trainee progression from entry to completion
- Performs reviews of decisions by Training Program Committees
Responsibilities
The committee meets 4 times per year by Zoom, with 1 meeting held face to face.
Travel costs are covered in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy.
Up to 2 hours of pre-reading may be required before face-to-face meetings and 1 hour before Zoom meetings. Members may be asked to respond to communications outside of meetings.
Accreditation Committee
Purpose of the committee
The Accreditation Committee is the lead committee for the accreditation function:
- Oversees accreditation standards and policy and their consistent application across all RACP training programs in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia
- Acts as an expert body providing advice and support to the CEC and other College bodies involved in accreditation
- Ensures accreditation criteria align with regulatory requirements and standards of the Australian Medical Council, Medical Council of New Zealand and the National Health Practitioner Ombudsman (Australia)
- Reviews recommendations from Training Program Committees, Subcommittees and Accreditation Subcommittees, and endorses system-wide improvements for CEC approval
Responsibilities
The committee meets 2 - 4 times per year by Zoom, with 1 meeting held face to face.

Curriculum Improvement & Supervision Advisory Committee
Purpose of the committee
The Curriculum Improvement & Supervision Advisory Committee is the lead committee for curriculum and supervision:
- Oversees curriculum development and evaluation, educational leadership and supervision, including Common Curriculum Standards and the Learning, Teaching and Assessment and Educational Leadership and Supervision frameworks
- Reviews and recommends proposed curriculum changes against established standards for approval by the Training Program Management Committee (moderate changes) or the College Education Committee (major changes)
- Acts as the parent body for the College Learning Series Committees and ensures alignment with RACP educational objectives and standards
Responsibilities
The committee holds a minimum of 2 meetings per calendar year by teleconference or videoconference. One face-to-face meeting may be held annually.

Up to 2 hours of pre-reading may be required. Members may be asked to respond to communications outside of meetings.
Knowledge and experience criteria
- Be an RACP trainee able to represent the voice and interests of trainees on one or more of the committees
- High-level communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
- Ability and capacity to prepare appropriately for participation in RACP activities
