Date published: Apr 13, 2026, 16:41 PM

Summary

Expressions of Interest are open to a Workplace Based Assessment Representative to join the Assessment Committees.

Description

The Assessment Committee is the lead committee for assessment functions across RACP training programs. It acts as the expert body for assessment, develops standards and policy, and ensures high-quality practices through the consistent application of established RACP assessment standards and processes across training programs.

The Committee provides direction on quality improvement across examinations and work-based assessment, oversees governance of assessment, advises on assessment blueprints, reviews assessment subcommittees, and monitors risks and issues relating to assessment. The Committee meets up to 4 times per year, with 1 face-to-face meeting held in Sydney.

The Workplace-Based Assessment Representative will provide insight into candidate assessment in the workplace, ensuring that perspectives from supervisory practice, workplace learning environments, and competency-based assessment are represented in discussions and decision-making. This role will support the Committee in strengthening alignment between curriculum, workplace-based assessment processes, and trainee experience.

The representative will contribute to ongoing quality improvement, offer advice on current and emerging issues in workplace assessment, and support the Committee’s work to enhance consistency, fairness, and feasibility across training settings. They may also provide input where work-based assessment intersects with broader assessment of design, implementation, and review.

Applicants should have sound understanding of workplace-based assessment approaches, supervisory practice, and the challenges and opportunities experienced by trainees and supervisors in clinical settings.

This is a temporary 12-month position, with an opportunity to review the Assessment Committee Terms of Reference during this period to explore the creation of a long-term ex-officio position.
